Jasper “Mr. HORSE” Manning was born on September 27,

1959, in Dallas, Texas. After graduating from high school and

working odd jobs, he decided to join the United States Air Force (USAF) in 1980. He served in the USAF for 12 years and the Texas Air National Guard for eight years.

His first marriage, which bore him two sons, lasted for 23 years. He later remarried.

Manning is currently an educator and business-owner, and he has been writing for the past 29 years. He has published before and has amassed a little over 800 poems that he would like to share with the world.

His motto in life is, “Live your life today so that tomorrow you’re not ashamed of what you did yesterday.” He strives to impress upon his students and referees, “Always leave things better than you found them.”

His books include “Time 2 MANning Up,” published by Westbow Press in 2019, followed by “America is Broken” in 2021, and “Time 4 Healing Make it Make Sense” published by Readers Magnet in 2023 all part of the Time 2 MANning up book series. Manning’s remarkable journey in the realm of literature spans an impressive 29 years, 26 six of which have been in education as an educator and coach.

 

Beyond his contributions as an author, Manning’s reach extends into sports officiating. He is the owner of Referees and Umpires with a DBA (Tri-County Official Association), where he lends his expertise as a referee and umpire. Manning’s diverse achievements also include his role as a United States Air Force and Texas Air National Guard veteran.
